fun in the tub

Wes just thought these were funny...

clapping!

Here is a glimpse of Jay's new skill. He is better than this shows but it's hard to get a good clip when he doesn't tell me he is about to perform. ;)

playing around

This is just me trying to get some cute video clips of Jay. Nothing much is going on here other than him trying to get the camera.

The big 55!!

Today is my dad's birthday so Jay and I decided to make him a card. Jay was very excited about it as you can see. :) Maybe next year he will be able to help me with it!
I have been thinking about home this week and how nice it will be when we are able to actually see our family for birthday celebrations. I was telling Wes yesterday that it would be so nice if I could just go see mom and dad on the nights he was on call instead of being bored at home. When we move back, I will have to take advantage of being so close to them and go visit on the nights he is working late. Of course by that time I may just drop off the kids and go back home for some peace and quiet....when I think about Jay times 2 or 3 my head hurts! Anyway, I just wanted to post this picture for my awesome dad. I thank God for you everyday and am so proud to call you my father. I love you.

Yuck!

"Daddy, what is wrong with you....that's gross!" "What is this garbage?!"
"Nope, I still don't want it!"
Now he's happy, not being forced to eat the nasty cracker!"

Growing like a weed...

Trying out the sippy cup... Watching the band at the greek fesitival yesterday... I think it's time to move to the big tub...
Check out all that hair!!
Having a ball in the jumper!
Jay is now over 7 months and is getting bigger everyday. His hair is no longer peach fuzz but real strands! It still isn't long enough to comb, of course, but hair none-the-less. :) Still no teeth yet but he loves baby food and would probably eat it constantly if we let him! So far, the only thing he doesn't like is peas. I thought he didn't like carrots but it turns out it's just my homemade carrots that are repulsive to him...the store bought jars are wonderful! I am very offended.
The nights are much shorter than before. I guess, in my naive mind, I thought that once he started sleeping soundly through the night at 11 weeks, that part of parenting was over for good. I was very wrong! He has not slept all the way through in several weeks. Sometimes I can just give him his pacifier and he'll go back to sleep and other times I have to feed him. Of course, we have played the "let him cry himself back to sleep" game a few times too....as he proved that he can SCREAM with all of his strength for over an hour, either out of true distress or stubbornness, I'm not sure. Hopefully, I can get him sleeping again soon. Ugh!
We have officially started baby sign language even though he won't be able to start making signs himself for another few months. We are watching the video and he loves it! He is mesmerized the entire time they are on....it's so funny. I went to Target and bought more DVD's yesterday so when we gets bored with this one he will have more to watch.
As for milestones, he is scooting more but still not crawling. He wants to, and gets very mad when he ends up plopping to his tummy instead of moving forward. His coordination his not quite there yet. Wes and I are going to baby proof the house next week so when he does start, we'll be ready.
He isn't making any new sounds and really just prefers to squeal over any real babbling. When Wes and I take him to the store and I try to find them, I just listen for the constant squeals... works every time. Thankfully, they aren't too high-pitched so it's more funny than annoying...at least to us...the people in Wal-Mart may disagree. :)

Eating supper.

Peek a boo!

Playing in the sheets while I made the bed. Jay's new swing! Very fun :)

We're still alive!

Playing in the front yard yesterday...
Eating some pizza....his hair is very strawberry here...
I am just checking in so everyone knows we are still alive! Sorry for the break of posting lately. My parents came into town over the long weekend and then I was good for nothing from a sinus infection all week. Yesterday I was finally feeling better so I just have a few random pics to post. Again, I will try to get a video up if this thing cooperates.
We had a great time with mom and dad last weekend. Jay was in a very good mood most of the time so we just played a lot. We also went to the lake and then mom and I had Swedish massages for her birthday...WONDERFUL! We also did some shopping while we were out while the guys were willing to babysit. Come to think of it, they did quite a bit of babysitting that weekend (thanks dad and Wes). I don't have pictures to show off, I guess because we used mom's camera the whole time. There were some good ones though.
The rest of this week has been very boring. Wes is just working and we are trying to get better. Jay is being a very good sport about my laziness, thank goodness.

Fall is in the air!

Eating prunes this morning....so messy....but soooo cute. On the canoe while Wes' paddled around the pond. Jay would have had a lot more fun without the life jacket but he did pretty well anyway...
"The itsy, bitsy spider went up the water spout...."
Sitting in the grocery cart now like a big boy!
Today Jay and I have been enjoying the wonderful weather. We are outside on the porch and watching the man next door mow his yard. Jay is trying to decide if he is scared or excited about the loud machine inching towards him. This weekend Fran and Lyz came to visit and Wes gave me some much needed "girl" time with them by keeping Jay while we shopped and got pedicures Sat. It made me wish I was closer to family so that I could take a "mom vacation" more often but I'll take what I can get. Jay was a PILL though. He woke up several times both nights just awake and ready to play. Then, due to the lack of sleep, was irritable both days. By Sunday evening, I crashed on the sofa and Wes had to "babysit" again. He has been much better today and yesterday and is sleeping again, thank goodness!

This weekend mom and dad are coming to visit so Jay will have the world revolve around him again. It will be fun though. Wes has the weekend off so we are going to come up with a few fun "Columbia" things to do.

Wes is on a new rotation this month. He is on the medicine floor at the VA. He is on call every 4th night so Jay and I will be spending ALOT of time together. Wes has always enjoyed working with veterans though so he will have a good time I'm sure.

Jay is "scooting" around but not yet crawling (I'm not really encouraging him to do that though-I'm not ready to chase after him all day yet). He is very mobile even so. When I put him on the floor to play, he ends up on the other side of the room before I know it. How, I have no idea but he thinks it is very fun. I can tell he is turning into a little wild man.

That's all for now. I can't get videos to upload for some reason but I will investigate and try to get some up soon.
