Sand, Sun, and Teething...

Jay thinks he is getting some watermelon!
Enjoying the bouncy seat with Mama Ross.
Reading the paper with papa.
Uncle Alan and Aunt Gina!
Holding the bottle by himself!
Uncle Oren making Jay smile.
On the pier with Papa Tim.
Discovering the sand with Aunt Carrie.
Sorry for the lack of posting lately. We are finally home after a trip to the beach with the Ross' and a visit with my family in Valdosta. I am going to post several pictures of our vacation so you can see what all Jay got into. He is teething (to his and our dismay) so has had some low grade fevers and has been fussy a good bit of the time. I am pouring Tylenol and teething tablets down him, sometimes with relief and sometimes not. I can't find any that have cut through though. Right now he is in his crib watching the mobile. I think he missed his crib last week. When we got home yesterday I put him in it and he started kicking around and talking like it was the most exciting thing he had ever seen. It was so cute. So for a recap on the week: the ride down was pretty bad. He screamed the last half of the way down to Valdosta. He would take a nap for 10 min and scream for 20. At least he has some good lungs. The benadryl did not phase him! I was very disappointed. When we got to the beach he was spoiled rotten by papa tim, mama ross, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He loved it. We took him to the beach and he played in the sand but was scared (as evidenced by dramatic screams and frowns) of the water so we only tried that once-maybe next year... He was excited about Zack and Ty (5 year old twins) and would stare and talk to them every time they were around. I guess he could tell they were little like him. Uncle Curtis had the magic touch when Jay was fussy and would just walk up and down the beach until he crashed...it worked every time. The last night we got to see another hilarious belly laugh thanks to Becky. Mrs Lynn gave me a much needed break when Jay had been crying all afternoon by taking him down to the pier and getting him to take a long nap by the beach (in the shade of course). It was a fun week, despite the irritated gums. Then we went to Valdosta for a few days and saw MiMi and Papa Rich. Uncle Alan and Aunt Gina were able to come up too so I got more help! It was great, especially since Uncle Alan is able to calm Jay down when he is inconsolable otherwise. Wes and I even went on a "date" Sat night since we had 4 free babysitters. I was glad that Jay felt better by Sunday so that they were able to see him happy and he and Papa Rich had some play time later that day. Mimi bought Jay several new toys to play with that he loves. They saved us on the car ride home. I guess the pictures will tell the rest of the story. I will post pics of the nursery soon too, we just have a few more decorations to add.

Getting ready for the beach!

Photoshoot that turned into watching the fan... No Gamecocks fans here!
Jay and I will go on our first road trip without Wes on Monday. I am very nervous about the ride since Jay decides half way through the trip that he is tired of the car seat, in fact, angry at the car seat, and must be removed immediately. I am hoping he cooperates. If not, I may go find a spa once I get to Florida for a week retreat. :) We are meeting Wes' family so I will not lack any babysitters. Jay is doing well. I bought some teething tablets and gel yesterday because he is getting fussy about his gums. Maybe that will give him some relief. We are going to pick up Jay's crib today! Now he can have a nursery like a real baby. Wes has all of the tools ready for display so I will post some pictures as soon as we have it ready. I guess I will start letting Jay sleep in his room then (if I can get over the idea of him being all alone upstairs). I have been trying to catch him showing off his new vocabulary on video but every time I turn it on he stops. It is so annoying! I will keep trying. I guess that is all for now. Have a good weekend!

Jay- 6/18/09

Ok, I have 2 videos up. They each took over an hour to download so they may be slow-coming. One is of his first laugh below. This was me just playing around today. He is doing good. This was after my 3 hour attempt at getting him to take a nap. (I failed). Now, Wes is seeing what he can do. He is a stubborn little boy, I wonder where he got that from???

The Zoo

Here are some pictures of our day at the zoo. Jay was very good. We bought him some sunglasses that he was precious in. He is definitely teething more. For the last 2 days he has been putting everything in his mouth and gumming them. He isn't cranky yet but I can tell he is starting to be bothered by it. We are working on learning how to roll over. He doesn't like being on his tummy so we don't get a lot of time to practice moving around before he starts getting upset. He would rather just play with his toys. We will see how it goes. He doesn't just "talk" anymore either. He is learning how to make high pitched tones with his voice so he yells and makes funny noises all day. It is really cute. The louder he gets the more proud of himself he is. If I can figure it out, I will try to get a video up this week.

House pictures

Here are some pics of the house in case you wanted to see what it looks like. Today we went to church and Jay was slept through nursery again. We took him for the first time last week and I was so nervous. It was the first time that anyone other than family kept him. They said he did great though so today I was much better. Wes and I were saying today that he has turned into such a happy baby in the last month. I think being on a normal schedule is good for him. He is not nearly as fussy as the first 3 months. Tomorrow we are going to the zoo for the day. We are trying to get some fun days in before Wes starts work. Hopefully, Jay will behave. There is nothing new to report otherwise. Have a good Monday!

Elmo!

Just wanted to let you know that I posted a picture of Jay and Elmo. We went to a toy store today and I had to ask "Elmo" to stop what he was doing and hold my baby....yes, I am one of those mom's. :) We also bought him a toy that is supposed to make him smarter...a if he needs any help.

4 months old!

Today is Jay's 4 month birthday! I can't believe he is that old already. He is definitely trying to laugh more now. He did another good "belly laugh" for me the other day. It was precious. That is all for now. I posted a cute picture of Jay and Jake "playing"...Neither were so sure about it though. :)

Running errands...

We have had a busy day! We went to the bank this morning to start new accounts....dad, you have won the battle, we now have everything at BB&T...you can put us back in the will. The excitement was when Jay, like clockwork, decided that the best time to have the daily gigantic poopy diaper is in the most akward public place. So, we changed him in the bank, this time the outfit was spared though. :) The rest of the day was spent trying to entertain spoiled little Jaybird. I have a few bones to pick with the grandparents for spoiling him rotten the last 2 months. If we are not sitting in front of him talking, he is whining. So, that is what we did ALL day! He doesn't see any need to change his demands just because there are only 2 of us now. I'm not bitter though. ;) As for his accomplishments, he is still excited that he has feet and has decided they taste very good. Also, he is starting to grab at Jake now. Today was the first time we noticed him giving Jake attention but he kept grabbing his nose and poking around his eyes. (Jake didn't care of course.) We are hoping Jake will be able to make him laugh again since we have had no success. Carrie, we may have to adopt Dixie if she is the only way to get him laughing! Well, that is all for now. Jay is sleeping soundly. Oh, he still has a cold but it is clearing up...just a nagging cough now. We bought a humidifier in our room to help him tonight. Maybe he will be well tomorrow.

It's official

Discovering his feet!
Well the three of us went to the DMV today and got driver's licenses and car tags. Jay did great, despite his cold and as of this morning, a harsh cough. He did decide that it was time to poop for the day right in the middle of the DMV office. We had to do a total outfit change in the lobby. Fun. Jay is starting to get bored with the mobile (which was a life-saver the past few months). He wants to grab the toys in front of him and since he can't reach the mobile, he looses interest. He has been playing with his feet ALL day though. I posted a picture above. He also is becoming attached to his truck so we need to get some more toys soon. That's all for today!

Getting back to normal...

Me and Jay "blogging"
Officially a doctor's kid!
Ready to go fishing...get ready Papa Tim!
I love him in his birthday suit! 3 month family picture.
"Talking" to Daddy after med school graduation.
Cracking himself up. :)
My little man.
We are now settled and are enjoying the last few weeks of vacation for Wes. Jay has adjusted to his new home with just mama and daddy. I can tell that he misses his papas, mimi, and mama ross though because he kept looking around for the first few days. It looked like he was thinking, "where is everyone else?" We have tried skype a few times but Jay just stares into the camera blankly. As he gets older, I know it will be a lot of fun for us and the grandparents. Today Jay was sick with a runny nose and cough for the first time. :( It was pitiful watching him try to figure out why he didn't feel right. He was whiny all day and couldn't stop sneezing. We have been rubbing him with baby rub and bought a vaporizer (non-medicated) to plug in while he sleeps. Maybe it won't last long. He also discovered his feet today! He was just curled up holding both of them in his hands and talking. Wes said he noticed him doing it earlier this afternoon also. I guess he will be pulling them to his mouth soon! That's all for now. I will keep you all updated regularly.
