Leaving a comment

Several of my aunts and our parents have asked about leaving comments below the posts and I have just figured it out.....yes, I am slow when it comes to technology. I adjusted the settings so you can post a comment even if you don't have a google account. Basically, if you click "comments" a box will come up for you to type. Below the box is a drop menu where you can select "name/url" and then type your name in. Then you can publish the comment (you will have to type in a code before it will publish). Let me know if you have any problems doing this. Thanks!

Jay is talking to Carrie in his usual sounds....I'm sure it makes perfect sense to him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cZg3A1hPvA

Christmas Week

We had a great time in south Georgia last week celebrating Jay's first Christmas. I didn't take very many pictures (it was so busy I forgot most of the time) but am posting the ones I have. We saw tons of family and Jay was spoiled rotten. In fact, he is yelling at me now because I dared to put him in the middle of all of his new toys without getting in the "pen" too. Of course, why should he expect anything less after a week of him being the constant center of attention. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family and I love that Jay is spoiled every time we go home...even if I complain about my trials after we are back in the real world. I didn't realize how much he actually got until we got home and I had to figure out where everything would go. Basically, he has toys for every room in the house (including our bathroom), both car seats, his playpen, and the diaper bag. It definitely makes life easier for me. :) Well, it looks like I am going to keep this entry short since my spoiled baby is having a breakdown because I am ignoring him! Thanks for the great week everyone. I love you! On our way home eating at Pizza Hut....Jay does this the whole time we eat now...he obviously is bored with us.
Getting a good nap in with Papa Rich before we leave...
Santa brought Jay hair for Christmas!! (actually, we borrowed Gailey's new Hannah Montana wig)
Aunt Gina, Dad, and Wes showing Jay how to use his new toy... Kurt's dog Boomer playing in Jay's jumper...so cute
Playing with his new Winnie the pooh train
Since Jay is not quite tall enough to push himself, someone has to do the hard work...not a problem last week but now...I try not to remind him of that feature.
Kurt and the two "babies"...
After opening all of his toys at the Ross' he decided Mama Ross had the best one....something to bang on!
Daddy tickling Jay with his new monkey from Carrie and Oren.
Trying to get him excited about the whole Christmas thing...
"What am I supposed to be doing again??"
Chillin with Papa Tim after all of the excitement.
Going to church in Tifton
Our first Christmas at home in Columbia...

From cold to colder...

We got home last night from a long weekend in freezing Helen to a house with no heat!!! It is freezing here so Jay and I are about to go to Target and Lowes in search of warmth....I am glad I wasn't born before central heating....I am pretty sure I wouldn't have survived. Poor Jay took a nap this morning in fleece pj's, two blankets, his winter hat, and a space heater (a huge fire hazard, I know, but we were desperate). We all slept in our bed last night under the electric blanket. Thankfully, our home warranty is covering it so help will arrive today. Ok, now to something more important. Our trip was great. Wes enjoyed his first long weekend since starting work and Jay had a good time exploring the cabin. I have some videos and pictures to share... I am determined to get Jay to say "mama" but he is obsessed with "dada"....so sad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ie0jlBHa8zo We had to take an intermission here for Jay to do his morning poo....as you can see if you watch his face at the end of the 1st video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHBgoup1Sgk This one is to give you a glimpse of Jay's new way to "fall apart" if things aren't going his way. He is usually more dramatic than this as far as slaming his head into the floor but just to give you an idea..... (I don't remember why he was upset but I'm sure he was fine a few minutes later). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uM808ePMmlU Ok, I am just now getting to post this because for some reason the pictures don't want to download. I'll try again later. But just to give you an update....it is now 3:45pm and the heater guy just left and our house is warming up as we speak. Yay! So as my dad says, "all is right with the world again." Playing air hockey.... And pool....
This is how we spent most of our time here....
Checking out the fire...oh how I wish we had one here right now.
Passed out after the day in Helen.
Jay's 3rd time meeting Santa...still with no reaction, however, he LOVED Mrs. Claus and smiled at her several times. His face here looks like he's a little mad at me for forcing Santa on him once again.
Our waitress took our picture Friday night in a little German bistro in Helen. Wes had fried cheese, yes, really (he didn't know that when he ordered though). I had chicken fingers.
Jaybird smiling through the freezing cold on our hike to Anna Ruby Falls. They were so beautiful but my camera died so I didn't get a picture.
Yes, it was really that cold!
Look at how pink his little cheeks and nose were....such a trooper.

Balls and trucks...

This was at the Christmas party Sunday. Josh and Jane went too and we had a good time throwing the ball with the little baseball player.....get ready Uncle Kurt....he looks like a pitcher! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLVmEa7sWJw In this one, Jay is playing with his tonka truck. For months it has been just sitting in his room but in the last few weeks he has become obsessed with it, really with any type of truck, but this one is his favorite, I'm guessing since it is as big as he is! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9amFUhZUb8 This last one is probably the most boring video I've ever posted. We were eating breakfast yesterday morning and I just thought he was so cute watching a video and eating cheerios. Wes and I love to watch him eat....he is so careful to put them in his mouth and, still, they don't always make it there. He has no idea that he drops them and just moves on to the next cheerio. Anyway, probably the grandparents will be the only ones to watch this twice. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ov0exvi5Ig

SANTA TO BRING YOUNG BOY HAIR FOR CHRISTMAS

This weekend we met Santa twice and Jay had the same reaction both times: totally unimpressed. He just stared at them like we had just taken him to the most boring party ever and he was very disappointed. Kudos to both Santas who attempted to make the picky boy smile by singing, making faces, jingling bells, and even giving toys, but with no success. Today, Santa decided Jay needed hair for Christmas so he promised to bring him some. I told him he also needs some teeth. Maybe we will get our wish. We made a video also but I will have to shorten it before I can download so it may be a day or two. Honestly though, Jay did not change his facial expression once, so the video shows nothing more than the pictures. I guess we should be happy that he didn't freak out and scream the whole time but at least that would have been something to talk about. Oh, and the pictures are out of order...sorry. :) Playing with the toys Santa gave him....finally an appropriate response!

Poor Santa, trying to get a response, any response, from the statue.
"What else you have in there?"
"You are so weird, old man."

A better video of the stairs

OK, I was able to convince youtube to download this video from the other day. I lightened it up a bit so you can actually see us this time. :) I thought it was so funny that he laughed after he fell down. Yesterday, he crawled all the way up the stairs with me right behind him and every time he would fall back into my lap, he cracked up.....we both were laughing by the end of it. Of course, he has not developed a healthy fear of the stairs yet, which kinda defeats my purpose of letting him fall. Oh well. Typical boy, right! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XpyFbAhMQQ

Stairs

Jay found the stairs this week so we are practicing crawling up them. Last night Jay realized that he could stand up and see himself in the mirror over the couch. He thought that was hilarious. Then, he and Wes started talking about how much fun he was having. Here is a short clip. I have a longer one but, of course, blogger does not want to download it so I will try to get it on youtube. Enjoy. :)

Random Pictures from the week

Here are a few pics from this past week. We put up our Christmas decorations and had to take some pictures with Jay by the tree but he was more interested in checking out the ornaments than smiling for the camera. I am surprised by how (other than that first night) Jay has no interest in the tree. I was afraid I would be chasing after him constantly but he doesn't even crawl over to it. I am not complaining though! Otherwise, we don't have any news. Eating at Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving... Believe it or not, I decreased the brightness on this one.....our poor pale baby
This is not a good picture of any of us but it is the first family picture in several months so I had to include it anyway...
Future doctor???
His "thinking pose"...
Sorry, I don't have any videos today. I will try to remember to get a few soon and post them.
