Day Trip to the beach, random pictures at home

I thought a new platform might help him crawl...

While Jay played with the neighbors, Eli munched on an old rope. Apparently the kids were playing "cowboy"...I still don't really understand this game. Only that they ran over to me every few minutes, tied a rope around my neck, and fell down laughing. ??

Posing before our weekly dinner at Moes

yea....Eli doesn't quite grasp the sippy cup yet.

Going on a nature walk. My garage is now filled with rocks since those were the only pieces of "nature" Jay deemed worthy to bring home.

Helping change the oil

Jay looks so old here!

And so handsome here!

Loving on Chick-fil-a cow

I heard some banging while I was cleaning the kitchen....Jay was hammering a real nail into his closet wall

He was, "putting this nail in the wall so don't my hat fall down" (And don't you just love his choice of outfit?)

Eli loving (or eating) daddy after work

I love this!

My monkeys

He loves to stand up but will not pull  himself up...he just demands we do it for him...and, of course, we give in to spoiled, lazy baby

Love that face..haha

Look at how sweetly Jay is looking at his little brother

And now for a kiss

Ever since Jay could walk he has loved playing with my necklaces....they are his "snakes"

picnic in the yard

I am framing this one!

And it's official, we let Jay watch way too much soldier shows

He's just striking a pose for the camera now.

Eli loves sitting on this deck and watching us play/work in the yard.

Cutie!

The rest of the pictures are from our day trip to Edisto beach yesterday. We had a lot of fun but were completely exhausted by the end of the day and then had a 2 1/2hour drive home. We are still recuperating. Next time we will stay overnight. Day trips to the beach were so fun when we were dating...what happened??? Oh yea, we got old....and had some kids.

maybe it was so tiring because we brought an entire village with us

jay wasn't exhausted....he thinks we should go back tomorrow.

Playing in the waves...

I love this one

And this one, with him smiling so big

Eli liked the beach....for about 10 minutes....then he was ready to go on home and take a nap. When he realized this wasn't going to happen, he decided to just gripe the rest of the day.

What a scowl

Oh, wait, maybe he isn't a complete sourpuss

Jay needed to wear his face mask at all times "so don't the waves splash water in my eyes"

I thought Eli would like the water since he loves the tub and pools. Nope, he was horrified as soon as it hit his legs.

Notice how foggy Jay's mask is? He kept breathing through his nose and we'd find him aimlessly walking around the beach in circles because he couldn't see a thing. But there was no way he was taking those things off!  Wes would have to go drag him back like a blind puppy every time.

Drawing in the sand

He's giving it another shot

For a second I thought we had turned a corner...

Nope, still totally disgusted

finding shells

Eli's faces seriously crack me up!

I will say, in grumpy boy's defense, even though he was about as unimpressed as a baby can be the entire day, he never pitched a fit or cried, he just scowled, grunted, and made disgusted faces at all of us. So, all in all, he was a little trooper.

He was better curled up in the chair with me for a little while. Thank goodness we brought the stroller since walking up and down the beach turned out to be the only way to get him to go to sleep. When we finally got home that night he was elated to find his clean, sand-free, quiet bedroom waiting for him.

Notice how uncrowded and clean this beach was (on a Saturday of a holiday weekend even). It was such a charming, quiet beach town. Jay had so much room to run and play and the beach was so relaxing. We will be taking advantage of this place over the next year, for sure!
